The Mighty is a portable hybrid convection vaporizer much like the Crafty Plus but about twice the size and over twice the battery life.
It’s made by Storz and Bickel out of Germany which also manufactures the Plenty, a plug-in type home use vaporizer, the Volcano Classic, the original Volcano desktop vaporizer, and the Volcano Hybrid, the newest version of the Volcano with the added whip system.
I’m going on almost six years with my original Mighty. Sure it’s seen better days and the battery life is nowhere near the capacity as when it was brand new, but it still works. That’s pretty much my motto when it comes to the Mighty vaporizer (and all Storz and Bickel products), it just works and it works well.

Mighty
“Best Battery Life 2021”
Price: $296 /w Code WIZARDNOW15
The Mighty has the best average battery life of any portable vaporizer I have tested. Not only is the Mighty vaporizer extremely easy to use via the on-vape temp control buttons, but it’s also one of the most consistent portable vapes I’ve ever used. There are no loading techniques or special grind requirements. You simply load the Mighty up, hit the power button and you’re ready to go when it’s heated up.
The biggest downside you’ll see in my Mighty review is the size of the unit. So if you don’t care about discretion, want the best battery life, and keep your vapes in backpacks, then this might be the best portable vaporizer for you.
Read on below for my full Mighty portable vaporizer review.
Mighty Size & Portability

The Mighty is kind of a “BIG” deal…
The Mighty is one of the biggest portable vaporizers currently on the market. The exact dimensions are 5.5″H x 3.2″L x 1.2″D and weighs 230 grams. By comparison, the Crafty weighs 135 grams, the Pax 2 is about 90 grams, and the Firefly 2 is about 140 grams.
Although it has some size to it, I do still use the Mighty when I’m out and about. It’s the vape I take when I’m hanging out with friends because I know it will never run out of battery and even a novice could use it without any coaching.
Can I Pocket the Mighty?
It’s definitely not the best for concealment. The Mighty can easily fit into a backpack, handbag, or a bigger purse but it’s not the most comfortable to have in your pocket. I compare it to sticking a pack of ramen noodles in your pocket.
So I consider the Mighty to be a great group vaporizer and not so much for personal concealment type use. It’s very easy to hold and pass around plus the outside remains cool to the touch.
The fins on the outside act as heat sinks and allow the exterior of the vaporizer to cool no matter how you hold it.
Heating Element & Temperature Options
Hybrid Heating Style
The Mighty uses both a conduction and convection heating method, also known as a hybrid. This allows it to produce tasty dense vapor extremely consistently and without the need to stir.
Temp Options
The Mighty features an LED 1×1 display with easy to use buttons on the side to control the temp. Sort of like on the Volcano Hybrid but on a much smaller scale. You can select any temperature from 105-410F at any point during your vape session. It’s nice to have that precise control for different types of herbs or just vaping at different points in the day. Different temps, different effects.
The Mighty does NOT use the smartphone app like the Crafty, you can do everything on the vape itself.
Heat-Up Time
I’ve found the Mighty takes about 1:30 minutes to heat up which is faster than the Crafty, but overall slower than the rest of the competition. Once it gets up to temp the Mighty holds temp well even while skiing in the winter.
Chamber Size, How-to-Use & Loading Techniques

Mighty Chamber Size
The Mighty bowl holds about .25 grams of dry herb depending on grind style and how you load the chamber. You can get upwards of .3 grams with a super fine grind. I can usually vape an entire bowl in about a dozen or fewer draws which make for faster sessions than most session vapes. The Mighty is extremely easy to use.
How-To-Use the Mighty Vaporizer
Press the power button and it will automatically begin heating to your set temp. It will show the default temp, actual temp, and battery life remaining. No holding buttons or batteries. Just wait for it to heat up and you’re ready to go. It’s that easy.
Loading Your Mighty
The Mighty comes with the Filling Aid that makes loading/unloading the bowl super easy. Just load the herb, attach the filling aid, and drop in some herb. After that, just reattach the Mighty cooling unit and vape on.
ALSO, the Crafty+ and Mighty have the same filling method, but the Mighty has a slightly larger cooling unit on top.
Battery Life, Charging Options, & Charge Times
This category is where the Mighty shines! The Mighty is my highest rated portable vaporizer for battery life and I don’t think it will be knocked off anytime soon.
Average Battery life
I’ve been able to get an average of 8 sessions in before the battery dies. That’s 90+ minutes of average continuous use. It also has full pass-through charging which allows the Mighty to be used while charging. A lot of vapes like the crafty have partial pass-through so they can be used while plugged in, but the battery still dies, just slower than normal so they cannot be used with a fully dead battery. With the Mighty, you can plug it in while it’s fully dead and still use it.
Charging Times
With the extra batteries and battery life, the Mighty needed some big charging power. So, unfortunately, the Mighty doesn’t have USB charging like the Crafty. It plugs into the wall and I’ve found that it takes about 2 hours to charge the Mighty from dead.
Mighty vs Crafty+ and Firefly 2+
The Mighty is really in a league of its own. This is the best vaporizer if you want the most battery life and don’t really care about the size or concealment. But because of the size, I rate two other portable vaporizers higher, the Crafty Plus and the Firefly 2 Plus.

Crafty+ Vaporizer
The Crafty+ is one of the best vaporizers to come to market and I dub it the absolute best personal vaporizer. It’s easily concealed, even easier to use, and uses the same heating technology as the Mighty.
The main differences between the Crafty and Mighty are the average battery life, size, and a slightly larger cooling unit on top. The Mighty has also proven to be more reliable than the Crafty under heavy use. However, the vapor quality, ease of use, and consistency are the same in both units.
It basically comes down to whether you need the portability and concealment or if you want max battery life. You can check out my full Mighty vs Crafty Plus comparison if you wanted more info between the two.
Firefly 2 Plus
The Firefly 2+ ranks are higher because of two categories: Vapor Quality (Taste, Temp, Smoothness) and Portability. The Firefly 2 weighs less and heats up in 5-7 seconds including pre-heat. So you can basically pull it out and get in a session (2-4 hits) about the time the Mighty finishes heating up.
The Firefly 2 is a Dynamic Convection vaporizer powered by a high-powered li-ion replaceable battery. It comes with a replaceable battery and I’ve averaged about 4-6 bowls per battery. The Firefly 2 PLUS is much better than the original in terms of weight, portability, and consistency. It’s also much better with concentrates and probably my favorite portable dry herb vaporizer to use with concentrates.
The Firefly 2 does, however, require more technique and practice to get the best results, it’s not as consistent or easy to use as the Mighty, and it’s not the best vaporizer for groups.
Accessories & Filling Aid
The accessories are pretty standard with the Mighty but they did add in the “Filling Aid” and “Dosing Capsules”. The filling aid attaches to the top of the unit and creates an easy, non-messy way to load the bowl. The “dosing-capsules” are small canisters that you can throw in the chamber for “micro-dosing” with the mighty. Micro dosing allows you to only vape a small, usually specified, amount of dry herb to achieve lighter effects.
You can also pick up a WPA ( Water Pipe Adapter) and some glass to use while at home. I’ve found this method extremely enjoyable to use while watching shows or playing games at home. Check out my Mighty/Crafty+ Water Pipe Adapter Tutorial for more info.
Mighty Warranty Information
So this is one of the cons of the Mighty, IMO. The Mighty only has a two-year manufacturer warranty which is below average for a premium style vaporizer. A lot of the newer vapes are starting to offer longer warranties. However, Storz and Bickel is probably the best manufacturer in the niche when it comes to customer service.
Mighty Vaporizer Review Summary

Should you buy the Mighty?
Can you use it without having to hide it? Can you store it on the go? Do you vape with friends? Do you need the best battery life for long day adventures? If you answered yes, yes, yes, and… yes… then you will more than likely love the Mighty.
The Mighty has great vapor quality, it’s easy to use, and one of the most consistent vaporizers I’ve reviewed. You can pack the chamber in any fashion and you will get the same great results 99% of the time.
I personally still have my original Mighty from the end of 2014 and have put more hours on it than any other portable vaporizer I have.
If it wasn’t for the large size, the Mighty vaporizer would be my highest rated portable vaporizer but it’s just not the best for all of the “on-the-go” scenarios. I prefer the smaller Crafty Plus for nights on the town or events where I have limited space.

Mighty Vaporizer Video Review
Mighty Review Video Transcript
Hey guys Buzz here with vaporizerwizard.com and today I will be reviewing the Mighty portable vaporizer. The Mighty is a portable conduction/convection hybrid made by Storz and Bickel. It offers on vape temp control, an LED display and one of the most powerful battery systems on the market.
The Mighty is currently one of my highest rated portable vaporizers for overall battery life. I can get up to 90 minutes of average continuous use which is outstanding for a portable vape. In terms of bowls, that’s about 6-8 on average. Most portables I can get about 3-5 so this is a beast of a portable vaporizer. The Mighty ranks highest in categories like battery life, ease of use, consistency, and build quality. It’s also made by the same company that produced the Volcano, the Plenty, and the smaller portable, the Crafty. I also have reviews for both the Crafty and the Volcano which you can check here on Youtube.
At the time of this video the Mighty retails for $399. You can click the links below in the about section to get the current price and a full review on my website.
So in this video, I’ll go over the features and how to use the Mighty. I’ll talk about the battery life and charging, followed up by a vape session, pros/cons and show you where you can pick one up.
Intro
So here is the Mighty.
It has the same industrial look and feel as the smaller Crafty but comes in at over twice the size. Now the Mighty is a different type of portable vaporizer. It’s almost in its own category and not because of vapor quality or battery life, which is awesome by the way, but because of its size. It’s roughly the width of an iPhone 6s with a case but about an inch and a half thick… So yes, I can get the Mighty in my pocket, but I don’t really want to unless I have too. It conceals much better in a hoodie, purse or backpack.
The exact dimensions of the mighty are 5.5 inches tall by 3.2 inches wide by 1.2 inches deep. The Mighty is also one of the heaviest portable vaporizers on the market coming in at 230 grams.
By comparison, the Crafty weighs 130 grams, the Pax 2 weighs 90 grams, the Firefly 2 weighs 141 grams, the Grasshopper weighs 55 grams, and the Haze V3 is about 193 grams. So I’m not a huge fan of the size if you plan to be carrying the Mighty in your pocket on the go all the time, but it’s totally fine for carrying around the house or bringing to a friend’s place.
If you prefer vaping in groups the Mighty is also one of the very best portables for the job. The Mighty is great for overall ease of use. Despite its size, the Mighty fits pretty nicely in the hands, it’s easy to pass around and the chamber is really easy to load and unload.
It is also extremely consistent requiring no technique or practice and has a very free flowing draw.
If you are looking for a smaller unit I also have an article up on my site comparing the Mighty and Crafty which you can check out in the about section, but be aware the sacrifices such as half the battery life, slower heat up speed, no temperature control without the phone app and a bit of reduced overall reliability to get the smaller form factor.
Included:
So in the box you get the Mighty vaporizer itself, the cooling unit and the filling aid which I’ll talk more about later. You get 3 spare screens, a cleaning tool, a concentrate pad, and a set of spare seals.
Heater, chamber, cooling unit
So let’s go over some of the features. First up is the heater, chamber and cooling unit. The Mighty uses a hybrid conduction and convection heating method. I find the Mighty’s heating provides some of the most consistent vapor with no technique required, it also provides good vapor quality and extremely even avb.
The Chamber can hold up to .3 grams with a finer grind but a typical chamber size for me is around .15-.2 grams with a coarser grind. The Mighty works very well with either fine or coarse grinds, but I do find that a very fine grind causes more cleaning so I generally stick to a coarse grind. The Mighty also works very well with varying load sizes. You can load as little as .05 grams and place the liquid pad over the top to get the best results.
The Mighty also features a unique cooling unit on the top of the vaporizer that routes the hot air through a longer vapor path, giving it time to cool down before it reaches your lips. In my opinion, the vapor temp, smoothness, and taste from the Mighty are some of the best currently on the market.
Cleaning, Maintenance, Warranty Info
The daily maintenance is easy but the full cleaning will take a bit. For the most part, I will just brush out the chamber after a session and blow or brush the screen on the bottom of the cooling unit. The longer cleaning requires you to take apart the cooling unit and clean all of the parts/screens/o-rings so I will create an entirely new cleaning video for the Mighty and add an annotation to this video when it’s up.
A full clean can take 5-20 minutes depending on how much it has been used since the last cleaning. If you really want to, you can go an extremely long time without fully cleaning the cooling unit, we are talking 100+ bowls, but the longer you go without cleaning the more draw resistance you will get and the taste will also slowly start to drop off as well. So I’ve found the sweet spot for me to be around 20 bowls which keeps the flavor good and keeps the cleanings pretty easy and fast.
I have talked to some people who essentially never clean their cooling units and others who clean their unit after only a few uses. So it totally depends on how often you will be using it and how often you want to clean it.
You can even just pick up extra cooling units if you didn’t want to deal with the cleaning that much. Some people even have 2 or 3 and keep them in rotation. I do definitely recommend the Mighty Wear and Tear set if you’re a heavier user or planning on using concentrates. The set comes with some extra screens, an extra cooling unit, 3 mouthpieces, and 4 extra concentrate pads for $34.90.
Bottom line, the cleaner you keep the Mighty, the better it will taste, the more free-flowing it will be, and the funny part is that a dirty clogged mighty still has less draw resistance than most vapes on the market.
Mighty Battery Information
Moving on to the battery life and charging system. The battery life is extremely impressive for a portable vaporizer. The Mighty uses 2 internal li-ion rechargeable batteries and on my first use, I was able to get 8 full sessions in before the battery died. Now on average, I get between 6-8 sessions which is still really good.
The Mighty is one of the very few vapes to offer full pass-through charging which means you can use it while charging and the charger input is stronger than the heater output so it could be used indefinitely while charging, whereas something like the Crafty which has partial pass-through can be used while charging, but the battery will still slowly die, just not as fast as if it was not plugged in. To charge the Mighty, just plug in the charging adapter. It takes about 2 hours to completely recharge the Mighty and then it can be used while charging as long as you have about a 5% charge first.
How to use the Mighty Vaporizer
So let’s go over how to use the Mighty. First things first we’re going to load a bowl with some ground up herb. My preferred grind type is a medium to coarse grind provided by the Space Case or the Santa Cruz Shredder and I tend to stay away from grinders like the MFLB finishing grinder with this vape because the finer materials will clog up the screen faster and create more cleaning overall.
Like I mentioned earlier, my preferred amount would be around .15-.2 grams and I tend to pack it down slightly. Since the herbs tend to taste best when you finish the entire chamber in one session I generally avoid splitting a bowl into multiple sessions, but it is possible. Just be aware that the taste will drop off, and the affects will definitely be weaker your second go around.
So now that we have the chamber loaded we’ll turn the unit on and select our temp. To turn the Mighty on, press the orange power button located on the side of the unit. The unit will vibrate and turn on showing the currently battery life, the default selected temp, and the actual temp. My preferred starting temp on the Mighty is around 350f or 175c and then I will bump up the temps as the session goes on. I also tend to start the temps higher if I’m using the Mighty with glass at home but I’ll get more into the glass options later on.
The Mighty ranges from 90 to 120 seconds to fully preheat which is better than the Crafty but still above the market average. Most conduction vaporizers are pre-heating in less than 60 seconds now days and multiple convection units are ready to vape in less than 5 seconds. The Mighty is really the king of session vapes and works best if you have the time to sit down and really enjoy the cool, seemingly endless amount of tasty vapor. With that said, let’s jump into that vape session.
Vape session (vapor quality, draw resistance, Accessories, glass options)
I’ve already loaded up the Mighty with some herbs of my Santa Cruz Shredder and set the temp to 390F which is (199 Celsius). I usually start my sessions out at around 350F or (176 Celsius) but I’m trying to get some denser clouds for the camera. The lower temps will produce cool tasty vapor longer, whereas the higher temps will push out denser more potent clouds. The higher temps will complete sessions faster but the taste and smoothness will drop off much faster.
One of the best features of the Mighty is the free-flowing vapor path. The Mighty has very little draw resistance and the heater is powerful enough to aggressively draw from the unit without it losing too much heat.
One of my favorite ways to use the Mighty is at home with glass. I’ve already made a quick video over on my Vimeo channel which I’ll link here that talks about adding a water pipe adapter to the Mighty or the Crafty but I’ll talk about it a little more here.
So my preferred method is to use the whip adapter from the Extreme-Q which I already had but you can pick it up from vapeworld for 19.99. From here just remove the mouthpiece that comes with it and the tubing will fit like a glove right over the Mighty or Crafty mouthpiece. You then take the elbow adapter and plug it into a bubbler.
I highly recommend the d020-d from the sunshine store which is the model I’m using right now in this video. Not too much diffusion, really free-flowing and very high-quality glass. If you decide to go with this combo, you DON’T need to get the 18-14mm reducer. The glass elbow connector will slide right into the d020-d.
So now that we’ve covered pretty much everything about the Mighty vaporizer, let’s jump into my pros and cons.
Mighty Vaporizer Pros
So the first Pro would the vapor quality. It’s very smooth, the taste is very good and one of the most free-flowing vaporizers I’ve used. The Mighty has very low draw resistance.
Next up is ease of use and consistency, the Mighty requires no special technique or practice and works with any type of grind, packing density or draw speed.
Next is the full temp spectrum via the LED display with on vape temp buttons. Being able to customize your session quickly on the fly is really nice
Battery life is not only very good, but the full passthrough charging will let the Mighty run indefinitely if you have an outlet nearby.
Mighty Vaporizer Cons
The first con would have to be the price. $399 is a lot to pay for a portable vaporizer but on the other hand, the Mighty is one of the most durable and reliable portables that I’ve owned.
The next con would be the size. For a portable unit, it’s definitely at the large end of the spectrum. It does fit into my pocket, but I generally prefer to carry the Mighty in a bag, backpack or hoodie.
The next con is the heat-up time. The pre-heat time is slower than average at about 90 seconds, but that’s not really a huge deal breaker because the Mighty is made to be a session vaporizer. It’s best if you have 5-10 minutes to sit down with it and really enjoy the cool vapor.
The last con would be that the unit does NOT have replaceable batteries and no USB charging. So this is definitely a vaporizer that you will want to make sure is charged completely before you head out for the day.
Mighty Vaporizer Video Review Wrap-Up
Overall to me, the Mighty is the easiest and one of the most consistent vaporizers on the market. The mighty is simple to use, easy to hold in the hand and requires no technique or learning curve to get the best results.
It’s definitely not the easiest to conceal but all of the other features that matter like vapor quality, battery life, and overall reliability are fantastic. So bottom line, you get excellent vapor quality in an easy to use unit with outstanding battery life.
