The Arizer Air SE is a portable dry herb vaporizer featuring five preset temp settings, an all-glass vapor path, and a replaceable 18650 battery system.
The Arizer Air SE is one of the best portable vaporizers I’ve reviewed considering its price point, removable 18650 battery system, and overall flavor. It’s not really the best at anything but for $125 retail, it’s hard to beat.
There are a few downsides to the Air SE vaporizer including a slowish heat-up time averaging around 60 seconds and, like most Arizer portable vaporizers, high draw resistance. It also takes quite a bit of time to recharge the battery within the unit but you can pick up an extra battery and an external charger if you decide to go with the Arizer Air SE.
I’ve really enjoyed testing out the Arizer Air SE and I think it’s one of the best portable vaporizers under $125, especially if you are looking for a portable vaporizer with a replaceable battery system. Check out my full buying guide for the best portable vaporizers to see how the Air SE stacks up.

What’s Included
Included with the Arizer Air SE
- Arizer Air SE

- Water Pipe Adapter
- PVC Travel Tube
- Micro-USB Charger (no usb-c, super long charging cord)
- Stir tool
- Replacement screens
The Arizer AIR SE vaporizer comes with everything you need to vape flower (except the flower of course) but there are a few accessories that I recommend picking up. As I mentioned above, I highly recommend picking up at least one extra battery and the external charger. I’ll get more into the Battery Life and Charging info later on in this review but the external charger can charge two batteries at once in half the time or less. But it does add quite a bit of cost to what supposed to be a relatively inexpensive portable vaporizer.
The only other accessory I recommend picking up with a dry herb vaporizer is a weed grinder. I have a buying guide for the best weed grinders if you need some help. Basically, a weed grinder will break down the herbs allowing for an easier pack, more efficient loading, and easy storage for your flower.
The Arizer Air SE also comes with a water pipe adapter to hook up to you water pieces at home. This is a great addition and excited to see the WPA instead of the typical Aromatherapy dish that Arizer has included with previous units.
Arizer offers quite a bit of accessories for all of their devices including different stems, carrying cases, and weed storage. You can save 20% with coupon code vapewiz20 as long as they aren’t running any additional sales.
Size and Portability
The Arizer Air SE is a small pocketable device but you’ll need to use the PVC tube that comes with the unit for storage of the glass stem. It’s not exactly the best device for aggressive outdoor hobbies like mountain biking because of the glass stem but you can always pick up a hard shell case for some added protection.
The Air SE weighs roughly 103 grams without the stem and 113g with the stem inserted. The Air SE stands roughly 7 inches with the stem inserted and a diameter of around 1.2 inches. The previous version of the Arizer Air used an alloy outer shell which added roughly 15g. The new Air SE feels much better in the pocket. (Pictured above from Left to Right: Arizer Air, Arizer Air 2, Arizer Air SE and the new Arizer Air MAX)
Overall the Air SE is one of the lightest portable vaporizers and easily pocketable as long as you store the glass stem safely. There are other more pocketable devices like the POTV One and XMAX V3 Nano but they don’t offer replaceable battery systems. You can find links to reviews mentioned below in the Suggested Reviews section.
Build Quality and Design
Arizer split from the norm with the new Arizer Air SE by using a polymer outer shell. Arizer is known for extremely tough, rugged, and durable alloy outer shells so we’ll see how this new polymer shell holds up over time.
Other than the outer shell, everything else is pretty standard for Arizer.
- The LEDs are bright and easy to read.
- The buttons are responsive and easy to press.
- The glass stem is a snug fit but with a little heat and slight pressure, it’s easy to get in and out.
- The battery door takes some finagling to get off, especially the first couple of times, but loosens up with more use.
- The battery is pretty tough to remove. Maybe that’s a good thing. Lifting from the bottom seems to be the easiest method to remove the battery and I’m sure it will get easier over time.
Last but not least, there are two color versions of the Arizer AIR SE: Blue Haze and Reefer White. I didn’t know how the see-through Blue Haze version would come out but I honestly really like it. Pretty cool to be able to look through the shell and see the inner workings of your vaporizer.
Battery Info and Charging Options
Battery Info – The Arizer Air SE comes with a replaceable 3350mAh 3.25A 18650 battery and charges via Micro-USB.
I was pretty bummed about the Micro-USB charging and was hoping to see USB-C charging for the Air SE but at this price I guess I can’t be too picky.
Battery life – The upside is that the 3350 is a massive battery for the size and power of this device. I’ve been averaging around 80 minutes of continuous use on a full charge which is roughly 8 bowls if you stick to the 10-minute session timer. These use times will vary depending on a few different variables so your experience may vary.
Charging Times – I’ve been averaging about 3 hours to fully charge the battery within the device via micro-usb. That’s why I’ve mentioned the need for extra batteries and an external charger multiple times in this review. It’s just not realistic for an average user to wait AT LEAST 3 hours for their vaporizer to charge.
The plus side is that the AIR SE offers pass-through charging as long as there is a small charge still left in the unit. If the battery is completely dead, you can charge the battery for about 15-20 minutes and then use it while charging.
Charging Options – The Air SE charges via Micro-USB and takes considerable time to charge the battery within the unit. Arizer offers extra batteries and a dual-battery external charger for faster charging and adds the ability to rotate batteries which will help them last longer.
The battery level is indicated by the TOP LED battery looking thing. Each color represents the power level remaining. 100% is green, 70% is a white/pink type color, 40% is orange and 10% is red.
Battery Tips – Don’t store the battery fully charged or fully depleted. Always try to keep a partial charge and keep it out of extremely warm temperatures. I.E don’t leave your vaporizer in your car on a hot day.
Overall the battery life is super impressive for the size and performance of the Arizer Air SE but the micro-usb charging is pretty outdated at this point. You’ll want to pick up at least one extra battery and the dual-battery external charger. Don’t forget to use coupon code VAPEWIZ20 for 20% off accessories and vaporizer provided they aren’t running any sales at the time.
Heating and Temp Options
Heating – The Air SE uses a hybrid heating system, heats up in around 60 seconds on average, and features a 10-minute session timer.
Temp Options – The temperature is indicated by the upper LED and the Arizer SE offers 5 preset temperatures ranging from 356F – 410F (180C – 210C). Each temp is indicated by a different color. Blue is 356F, White is 374F, Green is 392F, Orange is 410F, and Red is 410F.
You can change temps via the up and down arrows below the LED. The Power LED will flash blue while heating and stay lit when fully heated.
Vapor Quality and Draw Resistance
Vapor Quality – The Arizer Air SE produces excellent vapor quality via the hybrid heating system. The first couple draws in the session are very tasty, and the all glass vapor path does a great job at cooling the vapor.
The end of the session tends to taste a bit more cooked and the flavor will drop off as the session goes on but overall I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the Arizer Air SE.
Draw Resistance – The downside to the Air SE and ALL ARIZER portable vaporizers is the draw resistance. The best explanation to describe the Arizer draw resistance is like sucking a thick milk shake through a straw. You really have to slow down your draw and let the vapor form over time. It’s not the best unit for someone with weak lungs or struggles to take longer rips.
I prefer the free-flowing draw of the Storz and Bickel units, especially the new Venty but the S&B portable vaporizers are in the $250+ range. You can read more about the Crafty+, Mighty+ and the new Venty via my Best Portable Vaporizer guide for 2024.
Overall the flavor offered in the Arizer Air SE is top notch and rivals some of the higher end units but at the cost of a restrictive draw.
Chamber Info
The Arizer AIR SE uses a ceramic heating element and works best with around .15 grams of herb. You can load a bit more or a bit less and I’ve been using an average grind for most of my sessions.
You definitely don’t want to use a fine grind because the herbs will flow through the vapor path holes in the glass. The AIR SE does come with screens that you can wedge into the bottom of the bowl but I’ve not had good luck with keeping them in the glass stem. They tend to fall out when emptying a bowl after a session and have already lost a few during that process.
You can also load tiny nugs directly into the stem and it will help eliminate some of those treats getting into the glass stem and your mouth. Once the stems have been used a bit the Scooby snacks will stop coming through.
Make sure to empty the chamber directly after a session to help with maintenance and cleaning.
Overall the Arizer units are easy to load, use and maintain but I wish they had a permanent solution for a screen that would sit in the glass stem a little better.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The Arizer Air SE, Arizer Air MAX and the Arizer Solo 2 Max are some of the easiest vaporizers to own and maintain. The herbs are loaded into the glass stem and don’t sit directly in the chamber so it’s a lot easier to keep these units clean.
You can drop the glass stems into some iso to soak for a bit when they get really dirty and take a q-tip with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to swab out the chamber. Only a little amount is needed and be sure to let the unit completely dry out before using it again.
Another perk is the PVC tubes that come with all the Arizer models. You can pre-pack the glass stems with herb and place them into the PVC tubes for smell-proof storage. It also helps protect the glass while out and about.
Arizer offers all kinds of accessories for storage and portability on their website. Be sure to use coupon code VAPEWIZ20 to save 20% on all accessories as long as they arent running any sales.
Warranty Info
The Arizer AIR SE comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty covering any defects in materials or workmanship (excluding the battery and glass) and a lifetime warranty on the heating element.
Arizer is a company that stands behind its products and they are one of the most reliable portable vaporizers currently on the market. It’s crazy to say because I’ve had so many models, but I’ve never had a single issue with ANY of my Arizer vaporizers. I think I’ve tested over 10 different models over the years including both desktop and portable vaporizers.
Arizer makes a great product and they stand behind it with a great warranty, fair pricing, and excellent customer service.
Summary
Overall the Arizer Air SE is an outstanding vaporizer for the price and will satisfy 90% of the people reading this review. It produces excellent vapor quality, comes with a massive 3350mAh replaceable/rechargeable battery, and is backed by an excellent warranty.
I’m not particularly fond of the Arizer draw resistance but it’s more of a preference than a downside. There are definitely more free-flowing portable vaporizers but they are a bit more pricier and don’t offer the vapor quality of the Arizer units. I’m also not a big fan of the Micro-USB charging and wish they would/could have included USB-C charging for this device.
If you’re looking for a rather inexpensive, reliable portable vaporizer with excellent vapor quality and a replaceable battery option, look no further than the Arizer Air SE.
The Arizer Air SE retails for $125 and you can click here to pick it up directly from Arizer. Don’t forget to use coupon code VAPEWIZ20 to save 20%. Check out my buying options section below for more options.
