I’ve been using my 4-Piece Aluminum Santa Cruz Shredder for over a decade at this point. It has a few dings here and there and could definitely use a good cleaning as you’ll see below but it’s been indestructible and works as good as the day I bought it.
Today, Santa Cruz Shredder offers a suite of Aluminum and Hemp grinders in 4, 3, and 2 piece variations with tons of different colorways and special edition options to choose from. They also come in different sizes to include traveler, small, medium, large, and even jumbo sizes which I’ve actually found to like quite a bit.

Aluminum Grinders

The Santa Cruz Shredder Aluminum grinder is the flagship product available in a 4-Piece, 3-Piece, and 2-Piece with 4 different sizes (Small, Medium, Large, and Jumbo).
Pricing starts out at $56 for the small, $80 for the medium, $90 for the Large and $170 for the large jumbo grinder. I’ve actually been using the Jumbo quite a bit these days as it stores a TON of herb while keeping it fresh(ish) and I don’t have to grind a bunch of flower daily.
The best thing about 4-piece grinders is the kief catch in the bottom. The main reason I prefer the Santa Cruz Shredder 4-piece over the Brilliant Cut Grinder is the kief catch. While I still find myself using the BCG most these days, I really miss the option to sprinkle a little on top of a fresh bowl every now and then. I know it’s something a lot of people can’t do without.

Hemp Grinders
The best eco-friendly option for weed grinders are made from natural sustainable hemp and Santa Cruz Shredder makes one of the best 2-piece hemp grinders money can buy. They are available in 4-Piece, 3-Piece, and 2-Piece versions and all come in the medium size (2 1/8” Diameter) except for the new 2-piece large (2 3/4″ Diameter) with magnets version.
I personally haven’t tested the new 2 piece with the magnet setup yet but if I was deciding on which hemp grinder to buy, that would be the one. I never grind the perfect amount and there’s always a little left over the next round and I feel a lot better knowing there’s something keeping the lid on the top of the grinder.
The new 2-piece large hemp grinder with magnet retails for $13, the 2-piece (no magnet) is $10, the 3-piece is $15 and the 4-piece hemp grinder (no magnet) retails for $20.
While these aren’t necessarily the best option for everyday heavy use, the Santa Cruz Shredder Hemp Grinders are extremely lightweight compared to literally every other grinder currently on the market. I think that’s honestly the best selling point other than the Eco-Friendly Hemp material. They won’t weigh down your purse or small pack and the 2-piece fits great in the pocket for use on the go.
The one downside to the older versions of the Hemp Santa Cruz Shredder grinders is the lack of a magnet. The top isn’t secured so they aren’t a good option for cannabis storage. They are better used as a quick option in a pinch i.e. for use out on the go to roll a quick j or load a quick bowl.
Overall you can’t go wrong with a Santa Cruz Shredder grinder. My personal favorite is the 4-Piece Large Aluminum but my second choice would be the new 2-Piece Hemp Grinder with the added magnet.

Bowl Buster
I personally haven’t been using the Bowl Buster because most of the flower just falls out after a session with a dry herb vaporizer. I rarely smoke (combust) cannabis unless it’s a joint/blunt out golfing or something so I don’t really have a practical use for this at home.
However this is a great option if you are the combustion loving type of cannabis enthusiast and need a poker to clean out your bowls after a session or two.

AVB (Already Vaped Bud) – You can re-use the flower from a dry herb vaporizer to make different types or edibles. See my guide on how to make chocolate chip cookies with AVB cannabutter to get an idea on how it works.
I recommend to water cure AVB before making the cannabutter to help eliminate some of the taste/smell but overall the cookies were dank and it’s an easy way to be more efficient with your cannabis.

This is a company here to stay and I really enjoy using their products. Mostly the grinders, but the other accessories are nice add-ons as well.
My personal favorite is the 4-Piece Large Aluminum grinder and my second choice would be the new 2-piece Hemp grinder with the added magnet. In fact, if I was buying a grinder now, I would just buy both and have one for use on the go and one for use at home. The lightweight and small size of the 2-piece hemp grinder make it easy to fit in your pocket or store in a purse.
